PROJECTS
Woodcote Green,
Bromsgrove
The project comprised an application for a replacement dwelling in the Wyre Forest District Council area.

The site was highly sensitive, being situated in an elevated position at the edge of an ancient woodland and within the West Midlands Green Belt. The existing dwelling was also home to an active bat roost.
Stansgate worked closely with AP Architects, Barton Hyett Associates as arboriculturist and Focus Environmental Consultants in respect of ecology, to produce a scheme which worked with the site constraints and met with the client’s brief. We were able to secure a larger replacement dwelling by establishing a permitted development ‘fallback’ position and the new dwelling was designed to be net zero, ensuring that the building produced as much energy as it consumed. In addition, suitable mitigation was proposed to prevent disturbance to the ancient woodland and to ensure the development minimised the impact upon protected species and maximised the potential of retained habitats.
